Welcome to Bedrock Midwifery & Wellness
Supportive, relationship-based care that is unrushed, honest, and affirming.

Why Bedrock?
A "Bedrock" figuratively refers to the core value, concept, or support system on which a philosophy or method is built. It is grounded, steady, and safe. Every patient at Bedrock Midwifery & Wellness is encouraged to identify their "Bedrock" to help guide the course of their health care and assist them in reaching their goals. Your bedrock can be anything: Family, friends, your faith traditions, a passionate cause or special interest, a long term goal, social justice.
The Bedrock of our practice here is evidence-based, affirming, non-judgmental, and accessible care. No insurance, no one telling you who you can see, no unnecessary tests run without your consent, and care that sees you as a whole human, not a number.
Hi, I'm Lara.
My journey to midwifery began fifteen years ago. I moved across the country to attend a direct entry midwifery program. I worked as a volunteer doula while studying as a student midwife, until I had a baby. Life happened! I moved back home to Arizona to be near family and raise my son. Once back home in Arizona, I completed my nursing degree. I worked as an RN in correctional health, post acute rehabilitation, labor and delivery, and a valley birth center before completing my Master in Midwifery and becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife.
I'm not your average health care provider. I believe in evidence-based, equitable, and high quality care, but I also believe in vulnerability, admitting when I'm wrong, and sharing my "Bedrock". In order to build trust, those I care for should know who I am and what drives me. My experiences as a neurodivergent person, an individual with a history of chronic illness, and the parent of a child with additional support needs form the Bedrock that has driven me to create my practice.
I really listen, because I know how it feels when medical professionals discount you.
I provide accessible care via telehealth and home visits, because your physical, emotional, and sensory needs matter.
I don't talk at you. I talk with you. I am the expert in my field, and you are the expert in yours--your body, your mind, and your needs. Together, we discuss the safest and most beneficial path forward for your health needs.
As your midwife and health care provider, I promise to:
Always listen to understand, instead of only listening to respond.
Always discuss the plan with you, respect your wishes, and provide you with the best information and evidence to make informed decisions.
Admit when I don't know. I am always learning, always improving, and want to do the absolute best for those I serve. If I don't know something well, I will say, "Let me do some research on that and let you know."
Welcome, and I hope you stick around!
